MoU Between UNDP and Microsoft Egypt

Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Egypt Alessandro Fracassetti and General Manager of Microsoft Egypt Mirna Arif have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation to advance sustainable development and promote digital innovation between both sides.

Delivering a speech via video conference at the event, Minister of International Cooperation Rania el Mashat said the MoU establishes a framework for strategic partnership to benefit from relevant expertise and resources to achieve common goals in areas of environmental sustainability, climate change, green tourism, agricultural technology, food security, digital transformation, and capacity building, according to the “Egypt Independent” website.

Under the MoU, the minister added UNDP should cooperate with Microsoft Egypt to build digital skills and enhance skills for future jobs and employability, focusing on empowering women and girls and promoting sustainability.

UNDP and Microsoft Egypt shall also work together to develop an early warning system to mitigate the effects of climate change and extreme weather events in Egypt and promote sustainable tourism.
