Mona Zaki to Nihad Abu El Komsan: We Pray for a Change That Will Do Justice to Millions Like Hanan

by Nada Khaled

Actress Mona Zaki shared on her Facebook story the comments of Nihad Abo El Komsan, Head of the Egyptian Center for Women’s Rights, on the fate of Yassin and Farah, the sons of Hanan, in the series “Under Guardianship”, in which Mona Zaki played the role of the mother.

The actress indicated that the reality is way more difficult than some imagine, stating: We pray for a change that will do justice to millions like Hanan.

Earlier, Abo El Komsan had posted on her Facebook account, commenting on the series finale, where she questioned the fate of Yassin and Farah, the sons of Hanan, played by Mona Zaki in the series, where she wrote: Why was the mother imprisoned?

The mother succeeded in managing her children’s money and worked in a restaurant. She was imprisoned on charges of theft because she took the minors’ money without the approval of the probate court, and the uncle could have waived his initial report, but sadly no one changes overnight.

She added: Who will be in charge of financially supporting the children? Legally, spending is the responsibility of their uncle, because he is the guardian, and even if he is not a guardian, he is a nerve relative (a relative on their father’s side).

However, the uncle failed to manage his life in the first place, and he does not even know how to support himself and get married, so naturally he won’t be able to support those kids. Their aunt on their mother’s side does not work, and their aunt’s husband is not obligated to spend on them, or perhaps he is financially incapable to support them, so like most cases, the children will be placed in a nursing home.

She went on: Some might see this as a dramatic author’s imagination, but in reality, and the courts, the cases are far worse because of our ancient-old laws; the Ramadan drama just put things into focus.

The series “Under Guardianship” was written by Khaled and Sherine Diab, directed by Mohamed Shaker Khudair, and produced by Media Hub Saadi -Johar. It stars Mona Zaki, Diab, Ahmed Khaled Saleh, Noha Abdeen, Rushdi Al-Shamy, Maha Nassar, Ali Al-Tayeb, Ahmed Abdel-Hamid, and Mohamed Al-Swisry, among others. It aired on DMC channel, DMC Drama, and “Watch It” platform.
