Mattel Releases New Themed Barbie Doll Collection ‘Women in Film’

by Nada Khaled

Mattel just released the “Women in Film” Barbie doll line. The new collection is designed to represent women in the film industry, such as actors, directors, cinematographers, and studio executives.

Barbie doll has been breaking glass ceilings for 64 years, sometimes even surpassing career milestones before real women, presumably since the release of the latest Barbie movie.

The “Barbie” film starring Gosling and Robbie has become the highest-grossing film of 2023, grossing more than $1.38 billion at the global box office, surpassing the Super Mario film.

Moreover, Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster film “Barbie” won the first-ever Golden Globe for cinematic and box office success.

The Barbie doll creator has always worked to empower women. For instance, Barbie became an astronaut in 1965, 13 years before NASA allowed women in its astronaut corps and 18 years before Sally Ride became the first American woman in space.

Now, the most famous doll is seeking to assist real women in reaching an industry milestone: Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster Barbie made her the first woman to have sole directing credit on a billion-dollar film.
