Environment minister Yasmin Fouad said on Friday the number of industrial facilities, which are connected to the National Network for Monitoring Industrial Emissions, reached 91 in 2022 compared to 85 in 2021.

Reviewing a report on the Environment Ministry’s efforts in 2022 regarding improving the air quality across the country, Fouad noted that the ministry monitors air quality through a number of measures, including the air pollution monitoring network, underlining that the number of monitoring stations reached 120 nationwide.

The minister added that the early warning system is operating in inhabited regions nationwide as it shows the effect of weather factors on air quality for the next three days in eight geographic regions.

She also pointed to the ministry’s efforts for limiting the ‘black clouds’ phenomenon that avoided emissions of air pollutants amounted to more than 158,653 tons, in addition to collecting over 2.123 million tons of rice straw.
