Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Nivine El Kabbag, spoke about the impact of climate change on food security, emphasizing that it affects not only the quantity but also the quality of food. She also noted that climate change can lead to economic crises, which can pose a major threat to all forms of development.

El Kabbag delivered these remarks during a ceremony organized by the Misr Elkheir Foundation (MEK) to announce the winners of the 5th edition of the “Misr El Kheir” prize for philanthropic and sustainable development work. Additionally, she addressed the challenges posed by terrorist attacks and conflicts that violate human rights laws and principles, citing the heartbreaking reality in Gaza as an example of the result of Israel’s brutal assaults.

Despite regional and global challenges, El Kabbag remains optimistic and believes that Egypt is still full of goodness, thanks to its rich resources and the minds of its people. She thanked the foundation for its development role in supporting the citizens who are most in need.

El Kabbag also praised the growing role of civil society organizations in Egypt under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. She stated that the ministry had provided EGP1.400 billion last year to promote its role in offering necessary services to those most in need.
