Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsi, participated in the “Pink Solidarity Day” conference on Sunday. The event aimed to unite efforts to combat breast cancer and raise awareness for Egyptian women’s health in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population.
Strong Support for Breast Cancer Fighters
In her speech, Dr. Morsi reaffirmed the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s commitment to supporting women battling breast cancer. She emphasized the importance of solidarity and highlighted the critical role that civil society organizations play in combating the disease.
“Today, on the Day of Solidarity with Breast Cancer Fighters, we stand united with Egypt’s female fighters,” Dr. Morsi said. “We are fully committed to supporting them and providing the resources they need.”
“Pink October” Campaign
Dr. Morsi announced the launch of the Ministry’s “Pink October” campaign. This initiative aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and encourage early detection. As part of the campaign, the Ministry’s headquarters in Egypt’s Administrative Capital was decorated in pink throughout the month to symbolize solidarity.
“We are launching this campaign to encourage every woman, mother, and daughter to take steps toward a healthier future,” Dr. Morsi said. “Early detection can save lives, and we want every woman to have access to the care she needs.”
Collaboration with Civil Society
Dr. Morsi highlighted the Ministry’s collaboration with the National Alliance for Civil Development Action. Together, they support health-focused civil society organizations that meet around 30% of local healthcare needs. These efforts are crucial in improving the health of Egyptian citizens.
“Our partnership with civil society organizations is essential,” Dr. Morsi stated. “They are helping to expand access to healthcare services and improve public health across Egypt.”
Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health
The Minister also praised the Ministry of Health for its work on national health initiatives, especially those focused on women’s health. She noted that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s initiative for women’s health has been a key driver in empowering women and improving their health.
Under this initiative, Egypt has conducted over 54 million health screenings for 22 million women. This widespread effort is helping ensure that women receive the best possible healthcare services.
“President El-Sisi’s leadership has made women’s health a priority in Egypt,” Dr. Morsi said. “These health initiatives are improving women’s lives and empowering them to contribute more to society.”
As Egypt continues to fight breast cancer and other health challenges, the Ministry of Social Solidarity remains committed to supporting women’s health. Through initiatives like the “Pink October” campaign, the government and its partners aim to raise awareness, provide care, and empower women across the nation.
