Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports Inaugurates the 9th AIWFF

Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, officially opened the 9th edition of Aswan International Women’s Film Festival (AIWFF) at a ceremony held in Aswan. The event was attended by several ministers, ambassadors, and prominent figures from the world of cinema, arts, and culture.

In his remarks, Minister Sobhy emphasized the significance of supporting creative arts and cinema as vital components of Egypt’s soft power. He commended the AIWFF for its role in empowering women and highlighting their issues through the medium of film. He also noted that the Ministry of Youth and Sports remains committed to backing cultural and artistic initiatives that enhance youth awareness and encourage creativity.

This year’s festival showcases a diverse selection of 61 films from 32 countries, including six feature films making their African and Middle Eastern premieres. Notable titles include The Bird in the Chimney from Switzerland, Moon from Austria, and Milano from Belgium and the Netherlands.Ahram Online

The AIWFF, established in 2017, is Egypt’s first film festival dedicated to women’s issues and female filmmakers. It serves as a platform to celebrate women’s achievements and address their challenges through cinema.
