Egypt’s Hala Salem Won an Award for the Best Research

Dr. Hala Taha Mohamed Salem, Lecturer of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the National Center for Radiation Research and Technology at the Egyptian Atomic Energy Agency, participated in the International Conference on Integrated Medical Imaging in Cardiovascular Diseases held at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna from December 13 to 16, 2022.

Dr. Hala Salem participated in a research on “Measurement of calcium in the coronary arteries before imaging coronary arteries by CT scan, and the possibility of using it as an exploratory test to diagnose coronary artery thrombosis.” Her research was awarded the best research award out of 86 papers presented at the international conference, in which 58 scientists participated.

This conference is one of the largest international conferences that are held every four years in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.

Speakers at the conference from 85 countries, with an estimated attendance of about 300 scientists and researchers from the participating countries, including Egypt, and 1,700 researchers participated via the Internet. In the end, the best ten research papers were selected and awarded the best research award among the 86 papers presented to the conference.

Dr. Sherif El-Gohary, the media advisor to the authority, stated that the authority is currently seeking the participation of male and female researchers in the authority in international activities to increase international friction and build new generations in the Atomic Energy Authority, which is considered a school for capacity building and qualifying human cadres for the Egyptian nuclear program and the peaceful uses of atomic energy in Egypt.

Prof. Dr. Sahar Ismail, Head of the National Center for Radiation Research and Technology, expressed her pride in Dr. Hala Salem, a teacher at the center, for winning the award for the best research at this international conference.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Amr El-Hajj, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Authority, also shared his happiness that Dr. Hala Salem won the award for the best research in this international conference at the International Atomic Energy Agency, and this honor confirms the excellence of the Egyptian researchers at the authority at the international level.

This conference is one of the largest international conferences that are held every four years in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. Among the attendees was Dr. Sohair Qaraa, Professor at the National Center for Radiation Research and Technology and President of the Egyptian Association for Women in the Nuclear Field, and Ms. Sahar Abdel Halim, Director of Conferences and International Cooperation Department at the Atomic Energy Authority.
