Yesterday, February 13th, Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population signed a protocol with Al-Burj Laboratories and Al-Mokhtabar for Medical Analysis to conduct laboratory tests for citizens free of charge as part of the initiative for early detection and treatment of cancerous tumors.

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, witnessed the signing, which took place as part of a public-private partnership.

Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Public Health Initiatives, signed the protocol on behalf of the ministry, as did Manal Abdel Aziz, Head of the Operations Sector at Al-Mokhtabar Laboratories, and Abdel Aziz Al-Naqli, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Al-Burj Laboratories.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry of Health and Population’s official spokesperson, explained that the protocol aims to collaborate between the branches of Al-Burj and Al-Mokhtabar in the republic’s governorates, as points for conducting free medical tests for cancerous tumors (colon, prostate) for the initiative’s beneficiaries.

He went on to say that, in accordance with the protocol, the Ministry of Health monitors service delivery and electronic connectivity between laboratories and the ministry. The ministry provides reagents to the laboratories, and the initiative’s website displays a similar number of results.

He further stated that the two laboratories are committed to providing free colon and prostate cancer tests to citizens who complete the questionnaire on the ministry’s website.
