Egypt, WB Probe Climate Cooperation
Environment Minister, Yasmine Fouad, said Egypt took remarkable steps in strategic preparation for countering the negative impacts of climate change over the past year, highlighting the successful hosting of the United Nations climate change conference (COP27).
Fouad made her remarks on Thursday at a meeting with representatives of the World Bank’s mission at the Environment Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
Both sides reviewed mechanisms of cooperation to implement a funding program for development policies and support strategic steps taken by Egypt on the climate change file.
The mission representatives said the bank will work on helping face the current economic challenges, and support the private sector’s participation to achieve economic growth and back climate change adaption and green transition.
