Egypt, UNDP Examine Cooperation Opportunities to Support Environmental Investment

On Wednesday, May 24, Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad discussed with the Head of the Regional Office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Abdallah al Dardari, and Resident Representative of the UNDP in Egypt Alessandro Fracassetti aspects of future cooperation in light of the current partnership with the UNDP to support environmental investment.

Fouad said in a statement that the UNDP is a key partner in the development journey of the environment sector in Egypt via the different tools presented to support the environmental policies.

The minister affirmed that the UNDP was a partner in several success stories that achieved a quantum leap in Egypt, including launching the idea of sustainable transport in Egypt via cooperation between the program and the Environment Ministry.

The minister asserted the importance of linking climate, biological diversity, and desertification and the role of the UNDP in developing a group of policies to face those three challenges.
