Egypt Joins Qatar to Establish New Hospital in Sudan

by Nada Khaled

On August 14, the Egyptian Ambassador to Sudan, Hani Salah, announced a Qatari-Egyptian initiative to build a new hospital in Sudan to aid injured Sudanese as the health sector in the war-torn country suffers a severe shortage of medical services.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that months of violence in Sudan have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people and the closure of more than 80% of its hospitals.

According to the Amwal Al Ghad news website, the decision to establish a new hospital comes as the Sudanese army intensifies its efforts to defeat the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) through some of the toughest combats currently happening in Khartoum since the conflict began.
