Egypt Declares 3-Day Mourning Amid Natural Disasters Hit Libya, Morocco

As per a statement from the Egyptian presidency, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi proclaimed on Tuesday a three-day period of mourning in solidarity with Morocco and Libya after the two nations were affected by natural disasters.

In an official statement, El-Sisi expressed the profound sympathies of the Egyptian people and himself to those affected by the earthquake in Morocco and the storm in Libya.

The most recent report from Morocco’s Interior Ministry indicates that, as a result of the catastrophic earthquake that slammed the country on Friday night, 2,862 people have lost their lives, while 2,562 were injured.

On Sunday, a Mediterranean storm hit eastern Libya, causing in its path flooding and demolishing infrastructure. As a result, more than 5,300 people were killed, and 10,000 were reported missing.

El-Sisi’s statements added that the Egyptian president had directed the armed forces to deliver relief to both nations.
