Culture Minister Okays List of Winners of the 2nd National Center for Translation Annual Awards

Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, has just approved the list of winners for the second annual National Center for Translation Awards according to Sada Ela Balad.

Here is a list of the winning works:

Jaber Asfour Award for Translation in Literature and Critical Studies:

Mohamed Salah El-Din El-Fuli was named the winner for translating Carmen Mola’s novel “The Beast” from Spanish. The translation was published by the “Aseer al Kotb” Publishing House.

Samira Moussa Award for Translation in Scientific Culture and Science Simplification:

Ahmed Amr Abdel Moneim Sharif was named the winner for translating Giulio Tononi’s book “IQ: A Journey from the Brain to the Soul: A Neural Theory of Consciousness” from English. The translation was released by Newbook Publishing and Distribution House.

The Jamal Hamdan Award for Translation in the Humanities and Social Sciences is joint. The book “The Map of Knowledge: How the World Lost the Ideas of the Classical Age and How It Retrieved Them: A History of Seven Cities” by Violet Moller was translated by Mohamed Hamed Darwish. The translation was published by the Hindawi Foundation.

Martin Indyk’s book “Master of the Game: Henry Kissinger and the Art of Middle East Diplomacy” has been translated by Yasser Mohamed Sediek. The translation was released by Nahdet Misr Publishing House.

Youth Award Category:

Yasmine El-Araby Abdel-Ghani won first place for translating Robert Macfarlane’s book “Underland: A Journey Through Deep Time” from English. The translation was published by the Hindawi Foundation.

Menatallah Saleh won second place for translating “Forty Years of Reform and Economic Development in China” by Tsai Fang and others from Chinese. The translation was released by Safafa Publishing and Distribution House.

Samir Samir El-Matrawy for translating Tsai Fang’s and others’ book “Forty Years of Reform and Economic Development in China” from Chinese. The translation was released by Safafa Publishing and Distribution House.

Third place went to Sarah Mohamed Badawy Taha for translating Julian Cribb’s book “Navigating the 21st Century: The Ten Most Dangerous Challenges Facing Humanity and How to Overcome Them” from English. The translation was published by the Hindawi Foundation.
