Canada Allocates One Million USD to Support Palestinian Female Sexual Violence Survivors

by Nada Khaled

Yesterday, March 13, Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly pledged to allocate one million dollars to support Palestinian women amid reports of “sexual violence” that have emerged since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip.

Today, the Canadian Minister announced in the West Bank that Canada would allocate one million dollars to support this important cause.

Joly stated via a post on the “X” platform: We believe in Palestinian women. Allegations of sexual and gender-based violence against them must be investigated, and Palestinian women must be supported.

The minister’s office told “Star” newspaper that the money she promised in today’s announcement will go to organizations that support Palestinian women in Gaza and the West Bank. The secretary’s office said these efforts tend to include investigations into allegations of sexual violence.

In a statement, the government did not confirm, however, whether Canadian police support would also be provided to assist in this issue, nor did it elaborate on the perpetrators of the reported violence, only asserting that the aid would help Palestinian survivors of sexual violence regardless of the circumstances.
