The Women’s Affairs and Child Protection Unit at the Beni Suef Governorate has launched the first activities of the “Correct Your Concepts” initiative, a nationwide awareness campaign organized by the Ministry of Awqaf to strengthen family awareness and promote child protection across local communities.
Held under the patronage of Major General Abdullah Abdel Aziz, Governor of Beni Suef, and implemented in cooperation with the Beni Suef Directorate of Awqaf, the inaugural event brought together 100 social workers and psychologists from across Beni Suef City.
Dr. Shaimaa Karam, Director of the Women’s Affairs and Child Protection Unit, said the initiative aims to correct common societal misconceptions while increasing awareness of children’s rights, positive parenting practices, safe digital behavior, healthy nutrition, and the risks associated with excessive electronic gaming. The program seeks to equip families with practical knowledge that contributes to safer, healthier, and more stable communities.
The event featured participation from religious and academic leaders, including Sheikh Mahmoud Amer Abdel Azim, Head of Religious Guidance at the Beni Suef Directorate of Awqaf, representing the Undersecretary of the Ministry. Lectures were also delivered by Sheikh Adel Mohamed Hussein, Imam and Preacher at Al-Deiry Mosque Complex; Sheikh Hamza Mohamed Sayed, Imam and Preacher at Al-Gezira Mosque Complex; Dr. Gamal Abdel Motaleb, Head of the Population Studies Department at the Faculty of Arts, Beni Suef University; and Dr. Esraa Shoukry, Lecturer at the Faculty of Media and Applied Languages at Nahda University.
Dr. Karam praised the continued support provided by Governor Abdullah Abdel Aziz for the Women’s Affairs and Child Protection Unit and its community outreach initiatives. She emphasized that cooperation among government entities, religious institutions, and universities plays a vital role in promoting public awareness, protecting children, and supporting Egypt’s broader human development objectives.
