CAIRO – July 9, 2026

Egypt’s General Authority for Healthcare (GAH) has launched its first integrated women’s health campaign in Minya Governorate under the slogan “You Are the Foundation”, marking the first initiative of its kind following the pilot operation of the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS) in the governorate.

The campaign aims to strengthen preventive healthcare services and expand access to early detection programs for women as Minya becomes the first governorate in the second phase of Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance System.

Dr. Ahmed El Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare and Supervisor General of the Universal Health Insurance Project, said the campaign targets women aged 18 and above by providing comprehensive medical examinations alongside health education designed to increase awareness of disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and the importance of routine screening.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Parkville as part of a community collaboration to promote women’s health and encourage early detection of chronic diseases, reflecting the Authority’s strategy of working with private-sector partners to expand access to preventive healthcare services.

Running through the end of the week, the campaign offers morning services at Mallawi Specialized Hospital, Samalut One-Day Surgery Hospital, and Al Adwa Central Hospital. Evening services are delivered by a mobile medical team stationed at a dedicated pavilion along the Nile Corniche in Minya City, opposite Taha Hussein Square, making healthcare services more accessible to women across the governorate.

Participants receive a comprehensive package of free health services, including blood pressure measurement, blood glucose testing, body composition analysis using an InBody device, hemoglobin testing, kidney function screening, and personalized health education covering balanced nutrition, healthy lifestyle choices, anemia prevention, obesity management, and the importance of regular medical checkups.

To encourage participation, symbolic gifts are being distributed throughout the campaign, reinforcing the importance of preventive care and routine health monitoring.

Dr. El Sobky emphasized that the General Authority for Healthcare will continue expanding community outreach initiatives, mobile medical teams, and field-based healthcare campaigns to bring preventive services closer to citizens, improve early detection rates, and support Egypt’s vision of delivering comprehensive, high-quality healthcare through the Universal Health Insurance System.
