Counselor Amal Ammar, President of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW), participated in a national awareness seminar organized by the Ministry of Interior at the Police Research Center of the Police Academy under the theme “The Ministry of Interior’s Efforts to Support Children’s Rights.” Held under the slogan “Safe Childhood in a Safe Nation,” the event formed part of Egypt’s broader efforts to strengthen child protection, promote children’s rights, and showcase national initiatives supporting their well-being.
The seminar was attended by Major General Dr. Nidal Youssef, Assistant Minister of Interior and President of the Police Academy; Major General Manal Atef, Assistant Minister of Interior for the Human Rights Sector; Dr. Sahar El Sonbaty, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM); Counselor Sally El Saeidi, Assistant Minister of Justice for Human Rights, Women and Children; the Representative of UNICEF Egypt; as well as senior officials from government ministries, national councils, universities, Al-Azhar, the Church, media organizations, and public figures.
On the sidelines of the event, Counselor Amal Ammar praised the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing efforts to safeguard children’s rights through humanitarian and community-based initiatives implemented in cooperation with various state institutions.
She emphasized that protecting children is a shared national responsibility requiring coordinated action across all sectors, describing children as the cornerstone of building a stronger society. She added that creating a safe and supportive environment for children begins with stable, informed families, making women’s empowerment and support for their role within the family essential pillars of comprehensive child protection.
Counselor Ammar also reaffirmed the National Council for Women’s commitment, in line with its constitutional mandate, to working closely with state institutions to strengthen family stability, promote positive parenting practices, raise awareness of children’s rights, and protect children from all forms of violence and exploitation.
She stressed that investing in children is an investment in Egypt’s future, noting that the Council will continue implementing initiatives and programs designed to support families, empower women, and enhance child welfare nationwide.
The seminar also explored several key topics, including the development of a child-friendly justice system, digital child protection, and strategies to strengthen public awareness of children’s rights. Participants concluded by emphasizing the importance of sustained cooperation among government institutions, national councils, and international organizations to advance child protection initiatives, strengthen family stability, and support Egypt’s human development goals.
