Sohag Governorate has secured eighth place nationwide in the Presidential Initiative for Egyptian Women’s Health, according to performance indicators and participation rates recorded across the initiative’s service network during the recent evaluation period.

Dr. Amr Dweidar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Population in Sohag, announced the achievement, highlighting the efforts of healthcare teams working across the governorate to expand access to preventive healthcare services for women.

More Than 36,000 Women Benefit from Health Services

According to Dweidar, medical teams participating in the initiative provided health screenings and awareness services to 36,802 women across Sohag’s cities, towns, and villages.

Services were delivered through primary healthcare units, healthcare centers, and mobile medical teams, reflecting ongoing efforts to reach the largest possible number of beneficiaries and increase access to essential health services.

Focus on Early Detection and Prevention

Dweidar explained that the achievement is the result of continuous coordination among healthcare departments and medical teams involved in the initiative.

He noted that services focus on the early detection of breast cancer and non-communicable diseases while maintaining high standards of quality. These efforts contribute to improving women’s health indicators across the governorate and increasing opportunities for early diagnosis and timely treatment.

Supporting National Health Initiatives

The Sohag Health Directorate continues to support presidential health initiatives as part of broader national efforts to improve healthcare services and enhance quality of life.

Dweidar emphasized that such initiatives represent an important component of Egypt’s healthcare strategy, ensuring that comprehensive health services are accessible to citizens across different communities.

Expanding Awareness and Free Medical Services

Dr. Shaimaa Alaa El Din Karim, General Coordinator of Presidential Health Initiatives at the Sohag Health Directorate, confirmed that awareness campaigns and field activities will continue throughout the governorate.

She noted that efforts are also underway to expand free medical examinations provided through the initiative, helping ensure that healthcare services reach women in all areas, particularly those living in rural and underserved communities.

Raising Awareness About Women’s Health

Karim explained that the initiative plays a significant role in increasing awareness among women about the importance of regular health check-ups and early screening.

By encouraging preventive healthcare practices, the initiative contributes to improving overall health outcomes and reducing the impact of chronic diseases and breast cancer through earlier detection and intervention.

Advancing Women’s Wellbeing Across Egypt

The ongoing efforts in Sohag align with national directives aimed at prioritizing women’s health and ensuring access to high-quality healthcare services.

Through expanded screening programs, awareness campaigns, and free medical services, the Presidential Initiative for Egyptian Women’s Health continues to strengthen preventive healthcare while supporting healthier communities and improving the wellbeing of women across Egypt.
