In celebration of Port Said’s National Day, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) is organizing a series of training programs, workshops, and seminars to support and develop youth-led industrial and productive projects in the governorate.
Basel Rahmy, CEO of MSMEDA, emphasized that the agency is implementing a coordinated plan with Port Said Governorate to enhance the capabilities of small and medium enterprises, helping them increase production, access export markets, and create sustainable job opportunities.
Empowering youth and promoting entrepreneurship
Rahmy highlighted that the programs, scheduled for December 2025 and January 2026, aim to train young entrepreneurs in establishing new projects or improving existing ones. Participants will benefit from financial and non-financial services, franchising support, and marketing assistance, enabling them to reach regional markets and participate in international exhibitions.
“The agency is committed to expanding financing opportunities for youth in Port Said,” Rahmy said, adding that MSMEDA will increase funding for industrial and productive projects to create more sustainable employment opportunities in the governorate.
Strengthening industrial competitiveness
Rahmy noted that MSMEDA is working closely with Port Said to support industrial projects, particularly within industrial zones, enhancing production capacity and competitiveness. The governorate hosts a variety of projects with high export potential, including food products, clothing, chemicals, and leather industries. The programs aim to provide young entrepreneurs with the tools and guidance to fully leverage these opportunities.
Achievements and future plans
Since July 2014, MSMEDA has financed 14,700 projects in Port Said with a total funding of EGP 627 million, creating 26,000 job opportunities. Funding for infrastructure, community development, and training reached EGP 72.9 million, generating over 107,000 workdays. Additionally, more than 5,000 temporary and permanent licenses were issued for new projects through the governorate’s one-stop shop unit.
Rahmy encouraged local youth to register for upcoming workshops and training programs, including:
- Seminars and workshops on MSMEDA services, financial and non-financial support, and franchising, held on 6 and 12 January 2026 in cooperation with the National Population Council, Youth and Sports Directorate, and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport.
- Entrepreneurship skills training in the fourth week of January 2026 for students and young professionals, organized with Creativa Training Center and Port Said University.
- Workshops with leading industrial and productive enterprises to support the Egypt-Jordan trade agreement, facilitating market access in Jordan.
- Meetings with women entrepreneurs to nominate participants for the BRICS Women Entrepreneurs Alliance in January, offering local businesswomen international exposure.
These initiatives aim to empower Port Said’s youth, foster entrepreneurship, and expand economic opportunities, reflecting the state’s commitment to developing small and medium enterprises and enhancing local production capabilities.
