UN Women and Nokia Expand Digital Skills Training for Women in Egypt Under Rabeha Program

Mona Yousef

As part of a global strategic partnership, UN Women and Nokia have delivered a new series of specialized trainings aimed at strengthening women’s digital and professional skills in Egypt, targeting 100 women job seekers and entrepreneurs during November.

The trainings, implemented under the Rabeha Joint Program, focused on high-demand fields including AI, personal financial management, cybersecurity, and project management—areas increasingly critical for success in today’s rapidly evolving labor market.

The initiative seeks to equip women with practical, job-ready skills that enable them to compete more confidently in the workforce and expand their economic opportunities. Training sessions were led by Nokia Egypt professionals, who provided participants with hands-on exposure and real-world insights drawn from the technology sector.

The program was delivered in collaboration with the Executive Education Program at the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) at the American University in Cairo (AUC), further strengthening the academic and professional grounding of the initiative.

Rabeha is a joint program implemented by UN Women and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Egypt, in partnership with the National Council for Women, the Ministry of Industry, and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA). The program receives support from Global Affairs Canada, reflecting international backing for women’s economic empowerment in Egypt.

The training series highlights a growing emphasis on digital inclusion and skills development as key pathways for women’s participation in the economy, particularly in technology-driven sectors. By combining private-sector expertise, academic collaboration, and multilateral partnerships, the initiative aims to translate skills development into tangible employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for women across Egypt.
