Egypt’s PM Reviews Implementation Status Following Launch of National Economic Development Narrative

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met late Tuesday with Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, to review the implementation status following the launch of the first edition of Egypt’s National Narrative for Economic Development.

According to a Cabinet statement, the meeting focused on assessing progress made since the rollout of the initiative, which aims to articulate a unified, forward-looking vision for Egypt’s economic transformation through 2030.

Dr. Al-Mashat presented an overview of the nationwide dialogue and public engagement activities that followed the launch. The campaign, titled “Participate in the Narrative”, reportedly generated significant interaction — with over 68,000 downloads and reads of the narrative’s chapters. These efforts, she noted, were complemented by consultations with ministers, economists, private-sector representatives, parliamentarians, political party leaders, and thought leaders, resulting in a series of recommendations to refine and operationalize the plan’s core objectives.

The Minister also outlined the executive program of the National Economic Development Narrative for the period 2026/2027–2029/2030, which is grounded in a performance- and program-based methodology.

Al-Mashat emphasized that the narrative’s priorities center on strengthening macroeconomic stability and fiscal sustainability, while boosting competitiveness and productivity. The framework seeks to cultivate a dynamic business environment that encourages private-sector participation, innovation, technological advancement, and entrepreneurship.

Additional pillars include the expansion of foreign trade, enhancement of foreign currency resources, and investment in human capital — with a focus on improving Egyptians’ quality of life, empowering women and youth, advancing social justice, and accelerating the transition toward a sustainable green economy.

Madbouly reaffirmed the government’s commitment to translating the narrative’s vision into measurable progress, underscoring that the initiative represents a strategic blueprint for inclusive and resilient economic growth over the coming decade.
