On the anniversary of Egypt’s landmark October War victory, First Lady Entissar El-Sisi paid tribute to “the nation’s honored martyrs and heroes and hailed the enduring spirit of patriotism and sacrifice that defines the Egyptian people.
In a heartfelt statement shared through official channels, the First Lady reflected on the deep national significance of the occasion, calling on Egyptians to remember the courage of those who gave their lives in defense of the homeland.
“On this cherished occasion, the anniversary of the October victories, I recall with the utmost appreciation the sacrifices of our righteous martyrs and the heroism of the men of our armed forces,” she said. “We draw inspiration from the spirit of October—the values of sacrifice and belonging—and instill them in the hearts of our sons and daughters, so that this homeland may forever remain a stronghold, built by the hands of its youth and the will of its great people.”
The statement comes as Egypt commemorates the 1973 war, during which Egyptian forces launched a surprise coordinated attack against Israeli positions in the Sinai Peninsula and Golan Heights. The war is widely seen in Egypt as a symbol of national resurgence and military valor, culminating in the eventual return of the Sinai Peninsula under the 1979 Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty.
The First Lady’s statement emphasized the importance of passing on the legacy of October to future generations, framing it as both a patriotic duty and a foundation for national unity in the face of present-day challenges.
