The National Council for Women (NCW) continues its strong presence at the “Diarna” Handicrafts and Heritage Exhibition, currently underway at Marina 5 on Egypt’s North Coast. The exhibition, held under the theme “Egypt Speaks Craft”, will run through September 10, 2025, celebrating artisanal talent and cultural heritage from across the country.

The NCW is participating through two booths (Nos. 92 and 93), highlighting the creative work of Egyptian women trained in council-run workshops and production units. These exhibits include a wide range of handcrafted items—from loom bead jewelry, crochet bags, and handmade garments to home accessories—designed under the umbrella of Egypt’s Family Development Project.

Mai Mahmoud, Director General for Women’s Skills Development at the Council, emphasized the exhibition’s critical role in supporting economic empowerment for women. “This platform not only markets their products but also affirms women’s essential role in Egypt’s local economy,” Mahmoud said.

In addition to the Council’s booths, female entrepreneurs participating in the exhibition showcased unique works including hand-painted textiles, linen clothing made from natural Egyptian fibers, and handcrafted leather bags—demonstrating both cultural pride and modern craftsmanship.

The booths have reportedly attracted significant attention from visitors, many expressing admiration for the high quality and creativity of the products and the stories of the women behind them.

“Diarna” Exhibition is one of Egypt’s longest-running and most prominent showcases for heritage-based crafts, designed to promote traditional industries while empowering local artisans—especially women—with access to national and international markets.
