Sofitel Hotels & Resorts has announced the grand opening of its largest property worldwide, the Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile. This luxurious establishment features 615 guest rooms and suites spread across 24 floors, making it a significant addition to Cairo’s hospitality landscape.
Prime Location in the Heart of Cairo
The hotel enjoys a strategic location near Tahrir Square, providing guests with convenient access to some of Egypt’s most renowned cultural attractions, including the Cairo Opera House, the Giza Pyramids, the Cairo Citadel, and the Ancient Coptic Quarter.
Nicolas Gronier, Sofitel’s global marketing vice-president, emphasized the significance of this opening: “The opening of the Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile signifies an important milestone in Sofitel’s commitment to redefining luxury hospitality; it also is the largest hotel that we’ve opened anywhere in the world.”
Gronier added, “This exceptional property combines Sofitel’s renowned French savoir-faire with Egypt’s rich local culture, offering guests an unparalleled experience overlooking the iconic Nile River. Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile is a remarkable addition to our portfolio of five-star hotels, and we’re looking forward to welcoming our first guests.”
Luxury Accommodations and Amenities
The hotel’s guest rooms feature private balconies that offer views of the city and the Nile, and premium aromatherapy amenities that enhance the guest experience.
For those seeking an elevated stay, the property offers 52 suites with separate living areas, private balconies, and dedicated 24-hour butler service. Culinary enthusiasts can explore five distinct restaurants and bars within the hotel.
Wellness facilities include a comprehensive spa with a jacuzzi, saunas, and private treatment rooms for couples. Guests can also enjoy a spacious 300-square-meter outdoor pool. Those staying in Luxury Club rooms and suites receive additional privileges with access to Club Millésime and personalized concierge butler services.
Expanding Presence in Egypt
Sofitel currently operates more than 120 hotels globally, while its parent company, Accor, manages an extensive portfolio exceeding 5,500 properties across more than 110 countries.
The brand is further cementing its presence in Egypt through a partnership announced in November 2024 with Abu Dhabi Tourism Investment Company. This collaboration will lead to the opening of the Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza in late 2027, near the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, further enhancing Sofitel’s luxury footprint in this historically rich destination.
