Egypt is progressing with the development of Terminal 4 at Cairo International Airport, aiming for a capacity of 30 million passengers per year. This initiative supports the nation’s broader tourism goals, including the target of attracting 30 million visitors by 2030.
In a recent meeting, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Civil Aviation Minister Dr. Samah Hefni reviewed the project’s progress. They emphasized the strategic importance of this terminal in enhancing Egypt’s aviation sector. The terminal will not only serve 30 million passengers but also have the capacity to handle up to 40 million annually after future expansion.
Cutting-Edge Infrastructure and Expansion Plans
The new terminal will feature advanced infrastructure, including a runway with modern navigation systems and ground lighting. It will also include large parking areas covered with solar panels and improved access to road networks. The terminal’s design will follow international standards, with operational buildings designed for efficiency.
Cairo Airport Company has partnered with Pangiam, a travel technology firm, to design and build the terminal. Pangiam is conducting a feasibility study to incorporate emerging technologies into the airport’s infrastructure, ensuring it meets global standards.The project is expected to complete in 4 to 5 years.
Prospects of Tourism Growth
Egypt’s target of reaching 30 million tourists by 2030, with the tourism sector seeing steady growth. In 2024, Egypt is on track to welcome 15.3 million tourists, reflecting a 4% growth from the previous year.
