Nashwa El Sherif, Member of the Egyptian House of Representatives representing the Wafd Party, member of the Coordination Committee of Party Youth Leaders and Politicians, and member of the Petroleum Syndicate, stated that the Ministry of Petroleum’s celebration honoring women employees in the sector represents “a positive gesture” toward women working in the petroleum industry.

In statements to Al Watan on the sidelines of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ celebration honoring working women within the ministry, El Sherif said that the Egyptian state has demonstrated continuous commitment in recent years to supporting and empowering women across different sectors. The MP added that the celebration reflects the significant attention given by Karim Badawi to the issue of women’s empowerment, particularly as the event coincides with Labor Day celebrations.

She described the initiative as “a very positive gesture” that highlights the importance and status of women within the country, especially in the petroleum sector, which she described as one of the most challenging work environments. El Sherif also emphasized that women working in the petroleum sector play a highly important role, particularly given the strategic significance of the sector and its position as one of Egypt’s most vital industries during the current period.
