On Saturday, Egypt denied assertions that it had withdrawn its participation in South Africa’s legal action against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The case pertains to allegations of “genocide” in Palestine.

The private Al Qahera News channel has cited an unnamed high-ranking source refuting the reports circulated by Israeli media regarding Egypt’s withdrawal of support for South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

The source emphasized Egypt’s commitment to taking appropriate actions to denounce Israeli practices before the International Court of Justice. However, no specific details regarding the nature of these procedures were provided.

Last week, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced its formal commitment to intervene and provide backing for South Africa’s legal action against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The ministry expounded that its decision was prompted by the escalating severity and scope of Israeli assaults on Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Israel has persisted with its aggressive military operation in the Gaza Strip, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire in the region.
