Egypt Plans to Build Six Gold Extraction Plants in Eastern Desert

Egypt will build six gold extraction facilities in the Eastern Desert, according to Asharq business, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.

According to the sources, the government-affiliated Shalateen Mineral Resources business is striving to construct these complexes to assist enterprises and people in increasing the productivity of the quantities of gold delivered to the government.

The first complex will be built on a 6 million square meter plant of land near Aswan for EGP 250 million.

Another complex will be built near Marsa Alam, southeast of Cairo, on the Red Sea.

Shalateen Mineral Resources delivered 240 kg of gold to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) between January and April 2023.
