Efforts to advance women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability, and community development were highlighted during a high-level meeting in Kafr El Sheikh Governorate, bringing together government leaders to discuss key development priorities and ongoing projects across the region.
The meeting included Engineer Ibrahim Maki, Governor of Kafr El Sheikh, Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, and Counselor Amal Ammar, President of Egypt’s National Council for Women. Discussions focused on a range of strategic initiatives designed to improve quality of life, strengthen local services, and expand opportunities for women’s participation in economic and social development.
Among the topics reviewed were the implementation of building reconciliation and land legalization programs, efforts to address encroachments on agricultural and state-owned lands, and progress on investment-plan projects across cities and villages within the governorate. Officials also examined development indicators and implementation rates for key public-service initiatives.
Environmental sustainability was a central focus of the discussions. Participants reviewed projects aimed at improving solid waste management systems, upgrading recycling facilities, and expanding green infrastructure. Progress on the fourth phase of Egypt’s presidential “100 Million Trees” initiative was also assessed, alongside plans to increase urban greening and enhance the visual appeal of public spaces throughout the governorate.
The meeting further explored several infrastructure and service-development projects, including modern automated slaughterhouses, sanitation improvements, and initiatives designed to strengthen village and municipal infrastructure. Officials emphasized the importance of accelerating implementation timelines and overcoming any obstacles that may delay project completion.
Women’s empowerment featured prominently on the agenda. Discussions highlighted programs that support women’s participation in the labor market, encourage entrepreneurship, and expand access to small and medium-sized business opportunities. Special attention was given to training initiatives and support programs targeting women-headed households, helping improve livelihoods and promote long-term economic independence.
Dr. Manal Awad reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting Kafr El Sheikh in accelerating development projects, improving environmental performance, and addressing challenges related to land management and urban planning. She emphasized the importance of coordinated action to deliver tangible benefits for local communities.
Governor Ibrahim Maki stressed the value of continued cooperation between local authorities, the Ministry of Local Development and Environment, and the National Council for Women to advance national development priorities and enhance public services.
For her part, Counselor Amal Ammar praised the governorate’s efforts to support women’s empowerment and broaden women’s participation across various sectors. She emphasized that empowering women remains a key pillar of sustainable development and community progress throughout Egypt.
By integrating environmental initiatives, infrastructure development, and women-focused economic programs, Kafr El Sheikh continues to demonstrate how local partnerships can contribute to inclusive and sustainable growth while advancing Egypt’s broader development vision.
