Women’s and Girls’ Clubs affiliated with the Cairo Directorate of Youth and Sports showcased a collection of handcrafted shell craft and macramé products as part of the preparations for the opening of the Saqr 166 Camp at Mokattam Sports Club.
Mahmoud Fawzy, Director of the Cairo Directorate of Youth and Sports, said that the exhibition was organized through the General Administration for Youth Development and formed part of the ongoing preparations and logistical arrangements for the camp’s launch.
Supporting Women’s Skills and Community Participation
The exhibition highlighted the creative talents and craftsmanship of women participating in the clubs, providing an opportunity to showcase products developed through youth and community development programs.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to encourage women’s participation in productive activities, support handicraft skills, and promote community engagement through programs implemented by youth and sports institutions.
Strengthening Emergency Preparedness
Fawzy explained that the activities are being carried out under the supervision of the Crisis and Disaster Committee at the Cairo Directorate of Youth and Sports, headed by Shawikar Tarek, with follow-up and oversight from Dr. Sherine Hegazy, Deputy Director for Youth Affairs.
The camp is being implemented in line with the directives of Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo.
Saqr 166 Camp Simulates Emergency Shelter Operations
According to Fawzy, the Saqr 166 Camp is part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ and Cairo Governorate’s efforts to strengthen crisis and emergency management plans, enhance preparedness levels, and improve the ability of institutions to respond rapidly to emergency situations.
he camp serves as a comprehensive simulation model for emergency shelter operations and includes fully equipped accommodation tents, a medical clinic, a mosque, a church, and a dining facility to provide meals.
These facilities are designed to ensure the delivery of essential humanitarian services and support to affected individuals through an organized and efficient crisis management system.
Cooperation Between State Institutions
Fawzy emphasized that the implementation of such camps reflects the strong coordination and cooperation among executive authorities and relevant institutions.
He noted that these efforts demonstrate the readiness of state agencies and their ability to respond effectively to emergencies and crises while ensuring the provision of necessary services and support for citizens.
