With a heavy heart, the Top 50 Women Forum mourns the passing of the remarkable Laila Taha Qassem, a prominent and respected member who held various high-level positions in social, political, and charitable work.

Besides her work as a rapporteur of Egypt’s National Council for Women’s Fayoum Branch, Laila contributed to the development of a plan to obtain national identification numbers for incapable women in the Fayoum Governorate.

She held several positions, including Deputy Director General of Planning, Control, and Follow-up Affairs at the Agricultural Development and Credit Bank, Chief Inspector of Planning, Control, and Follow-up at the Agricultural Development and Credit Bank, and Director of the Planning and Organization Department at the Agricultural Development and Credit Bank.

In her role, Laila facilitated loans for female breadwinners to help them develop economically, socially, and politically. Her contributions were recognized by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during the Egyptian Women’s Celebration last year.

Moreover, the street where she lives was recently named after her in appreciation of her efforts in supporting development issues, charitable works, and Egyptian women’s issues for more than 30 years.
