Prof. Shimaa Abu Zaid becomes the first Egyptian woman to officially earn Doctor of Science in particle physics after receiving Double-Degree of Ph.D. in Science from Ain Shams University and Vriju Universteit in Brussels. The Ph.D thesis is entitled “Search for top Quark flavor changing neutral coupling with the CMS experiment at the LHC”.
With Bachelor’s Degree in physics from Faculty of Women for Arts, Prof. Shimaa Abu Zaid was appointed as Assistant Professor. She is the first Egyptian woman to obtain Ph.D degree in particle physics from CERN , the European Organization for Nuclear Research, and became a member there.
Ain Shams University is proud that she is the first Egyptian female to join a team studying experimental particle physics at CMS experiment.
