Head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Walid Gamal El-Din discussed in a meeting with CEO and Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Nobuhiko Sasaki ways of attracting Japanese investments to the industrial sectors in the zone.

This meeting is part of intensive talks held by a SCZONE delegation with CEOs and business officials in Japan to promote investment opportunities in the zone, according to a statement released by the SCZONE on Thursday.

Gamal El-Din briefed Sasaki on the industries set to be localized in the zone, including green fuel, auto, railway car components, medical devices, and pharmaceutical and glass industries.

The SCZONE head reviewed the facilitation and incentives offered by the authority to investors, citing the recent measures to create an attractive business climate and rapidly finalize economic activities in the zone, in addition to developing basic and digital infrastructure in this key economic facility.

On his part, JETRO chairman announced his visit to Egypt early March to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC).

Sasaki underlined the JETRO sponsorship programs’ expected role in supporting and developing Japanese start-ups.

In this regard, Gamal El-Din voiced his hope for cooperation with JETRO to provide opportunities for Egyptian start-ups to benefit from its sponsorship programs.
