Novartis Pharma Extends Presence, Launching New Premises in Egypt

Novartis Pharma has officially inaugurated its new premises in Egypt, situated in the bustling business district of New Cairo. The inauguration of the new facility signifies an important milestone in Novartis’ longstanding presence in Egypt and underscores its dedication to the country’s healthcare system and patients.

The ceremony, attended by Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt’s Minister of Health, Klaus Moosmayer, Novartis Chief Ethics, Risk & Compliance Officer, Elisabeth Gilgen, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt, and other influential figures in the healthcare sector, highlights Novartis’ unwavering commitment to expanding access to innovative medicines and making a positive impact on Egypt’s healthcare landscape.

For more than 58 years, Novartis has been serving patients in Egypt, evolving into the nation’s leading pharmaceutical company. In 2023 alone, its innovative medicines reached over 18.5 million patients across various therapeutic areas. With a strong local manufacturing presence and continued investment in research and development, Novartis remains dedicated to providing high-value medicines that alleviate the country’s most significant disease burdens.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Minister of Health and Population, commended Novartis on the inauguration of its new headquarters, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with the private sector, particularly in the field of medicine. He expressed gratitude to Novartis for its contributions to the success of various presidential healthcare initiatives, including early cancer detection and treatment, women’s health, and the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The Ministry of Health reiterated its support for Novartis in ensuring product availability for all patients and implementing social responsibility projects and initiatives.

Elisabeth highlighted the significance of Novartis’ new premises as a major milestone for both the company and the ongoing partnership between Switzerland and Egypt in the healthcare sector. She emphasized Switzerland’s long history of collaboration with Egypt and its focus on healthcare. Gilgen praised Novartis for its continued commitment to innovation, access to medicines, and social responsibility. She believes that the new facility will strengthen collective efforts to improve the lives of millions of Egyptians.

On the other hand, Sherif Amin stated that the inauguration of the new office demonstrates Novartis’ unwavering commitment to the Egyptian people and their healthcare needs. He expressed pride in their legacy and excitement to continue collaborating with stakeholders to ensure access to innovative medicines and contribute to a healthier future for all.

Aligned with Egypt Vision 2030 and Novartis’ commitment to forging robust stakeholder alliances to advance healthcare for all, the company is actively engaged in various Presidential Initiatives led by the Ministry of Health. These initiatives include those related to Cancer Control, Women’s Health, and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). Furthermore, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and healthcare professionals, Novartis is focused on pioneering new approaches to expedite access to innovative treatments for heart failure and breast cancer patients.
