Nile University Discusses Work Environment Challenges Facing Women in Technology

Headed by Dr. Wael Akl, President of the University, Nile University is organizing an expanded training workshop on “Challenges Facing Women’s Work Environment in the Field of Technology” in cooperation with the Arab-German Youth Academy for the Humanities (AGYA) at the University’s main headquarters in Sheikh Zayed.

The workshop, held today and tomorrow, January 14-15, aims to help women overcome the challenges they face in the field of technology. It will also review the results of an opinion poll on the work environment and mechanisms for supporting and empowering women in technology, and present models of countries similar to Egypt in this field.

An elite group of specialists from Egyptian universities of various classifications will participate in the workshop’s activities. Dr. Hassan Ali, Vice President of the Nile University for International Cooperation and Sustainability, and Dörthe Engelcke, a professor at the Max Planck Institute for Comparison in Germany who specializes in private international law, are set to open the workshop.

For her part, Dr. Lubna Saeed, Head of the Microelectronic Systems Design (MSD) Program at Nile National University and Co-Chair of (AGYA) in Egypt, indicated that the training workshop witnesses holding a dialogue session on the challenges faced by women who work in the field of technology, “Experiences and Solutions”.

Dr. Lubna added that the workshop seeks to explore various recommendations to bridge the gender gap in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, in addition to presenting practical solutions to end gender-based biases in this field.

Moreover, the workshop activities on its second day include training for 30 participants on work ethics and leadership skills and a presentation of a group of success stories.
