The National Council for Women has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Egyptian women and youth through sustainability-driven initiatives, hosting a specialized workshop focused on supporting the National Smart Green Projects Initiative and expanding opportunities for women across the country.
The event brought together policymakers, sustainability experts, digital transformation leaders, and development advocates to explore how women can play a greater role in climate action, entrepreneurship, and Egypt’s transition toward a greener economy. The workshop also emphasized the importance of equipping women and young people with the skills needed to thrive in emerging sectors linked to sustainable development.
Women at the Center of Sustainable Development
During the opening session, Amal Ammar joined a distinguished panel of speakers, including Hesham Badr and Hoda Dahroug, alongside representatives from government, civil society, and youth organizations.
Speakers highlighted the growing recognition of women as drivers of innovation and sustainable solutions. Special incentives and awards dedicated to female participants within the Smart Green Projects Initiative were presented as evidence of Egypt’s commitment to encouraging women-led environmental and community-focused projects.
Digital Skills Creating New Opportunities
A major focus of the workshop was digital empowerment. Experts discussed how technology can improve quality of life, expand economic opportunities, and help preserve traditional crafts through digital marketing and online training.
According to workshop participants, digital inclusion programs have already reached more than 43,000 women, providing training in smartphone technologies, artificial intelligence, and other digital skills that support financial independence and entrepreneurship.
These initiatives demonstrate how technology can become a powerful tool for narrowing economic gaps and increasing women’s participation in the digital economy.
Supporting Climate Leadership Among Young Women
The event also highlighted successful collaborations with youth-focused programs that encourage climate leadership and innovation. Participants reviewed initiatives designed to help young people transform creative environmental ideas into viable projects with real social and economic impact.
Programs focused on climate education, leadership development, and sustainability awareness are helping build a new generation of changemakers capable of addressing environmental challenges while creating opportunities for local communities.
Rural Women Driving the Circular Economy
The workshop placed special emphasis on the contributions of rural women to sustainable development. Discussions showcased successful examples of women participating in sustainable agriculture and recycling initiatives, including the production of organic compost from agricultural waste. These efforts contribute to environmental protection while generating additional sources of income for women and their families.
Experts also highlighted the role of savings groups, lending programs, and technology-based entrepreneurship in strengthening women’s economic resilience and expanding access to financial resources.
Inspiring Success Stories from Across Egypt
Interactive sessions featured success stories from women entrepreneurs and innovators who transformed sustainable ideas into impactful projects. Examples included environmentally focused businesses, recycling initiatives, and climate-related ventures that have created both economic and social value within their communities.
Participants exchanged experiences from different governorates, discussing best practices, challenges, and opportunities to scale successful projects nationwide. The conversations reinforced the importance of collaboration between government institutions, development partners, and local communities to maximize the impact of green initiatives.
Building a More Inclusive Green Future
The workshop concluded with a shared commitment to expanding women’s participation in sustainable development programs and encouraging greater engagement in green innovation. By combining technology, entrepreneurship, climate action, and community development, Egypt continues to create pathways for women to lead meaningful change while contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable future.
