Mona Zaki’s “Taht El Wesaya” or “Under Guardianship” of the United Media Services Company is considered one of the most important social series in the Ramadan 2023 drama, as it highlights the issue of guardianship, one of the most pressing issues for Egyptian women.

This issue is considered one of the main issues that concern the National Council for Women. According to “youm El 7” the Council’s efforts regarding this issue can be summarized as follows:

1- The team working on the file of financial guardianship at the Complaints Office of the NCW discussed the problems hindering women’s ability to gain guardianship decision over their children after the death of the husband, as well as the ability to obtain their financial dues to spend on her kids without financial or moral trouble.

2- Holding several consultative meetings between the team working on the file of financial guardianship in the Complaints Office and the partners in the matter.

3- The consultative meetings included The Public Prosecution, represented by the Criminal Research and Training Institute; Social Insurance; Internal Affairs, represented by the Civil Status Authority; The Central Bank; The Ministry of Justice, represented by the Experts Sector; and The Court Buildings Authority.

4- Consultative meetings were held over 3 months to discuss the problems of guardianship procedures with each party.

5- As a result of these meetings, a cooperation protocol was concluded with the Public Prosecution Office, which led to training all assistants of the Finance Prosecution Offices at the level of the Republic.

6- Training all members of the Finance Prosecution Offices at the level of the Republic on how to overcome the problems of obtaining the guardianship decision, which resulted in improving the performance indicators of the Money Prosecution Offices at the level of the Republic.

7- The Central Bank immediately issued several decisions and amendments that make it easier for female guardians to obtain and inquire about their bank dues and to work to lift the financial and moral burden on it for that purpose.

8- Emphasis by the Ministry of Justice on working to create a suitable spatial space within the corridors of the courts through which women can obtain their services in return.

9- The Civil Status Authority opened joint information screens with the Public Prosecution to save time and effort on guardianships in carrying out several procedures between them and lifting the financial burden on them.

The team working on the guardianship law in the Office of Women’s Complaints and its follow-up in the NCW continues its role toward resolving the mother’s inability to obtain a decision of will over her children.
