Ministry of Manpower Partakes in Regional Conference for Women’s Economic Empowerment in Morocco

 

A delegation from the Ministry of Manpower participated in the regional conference for the project to activate the role of the private sector to empower women economically in Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco, held in the city of Marrakesh in the sisterly Kingdom of Morocco, from 19 to 23 February.

This participation comes within the framework of cooperation between the ministry and civil community organizations.

The Egyptian delegation included: representatives of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Federation of Arab Women Investors, and representatives of the leading private sector companies in the field of gender equality, in addition to the participation of many associations in Morocco and Tunisia.

According to a press release issued by the ministry early Thursday, Manal Abdel Aziz, Head of the Central Administration for Affairs of the Minister’s Office, reviewed during the conference the interest of the Egyptian state and the political leadership in empowering women and the steps taken by the ministry in this file, including the achievements of the Gender Equality Unit and the launch of the National Plan for Gender Equality in the field of work and the code of violence and harassment in the work environment, as well as the economic benefits of implementing the economic empowerment of women, amendments to ministerial decisions related to the employment of women.

Participants commended the role played by the Ministry of Manpower in supporting women’s economic empowerment and legislation related to women’s employment.

It is worth noting that this project comes in line with the tripartite participation of the private sector, civil society organizations, and the government, as the project presented many successful models from companies and institutions that have taken many initiatives supporting women’s economic empowerment.
