The Ministry of Manpower has recently received a report from the Directorate of Labor of Al Sharqiyah Governorate regarding the progress of a vocational project aimed at promoting the economic empowerment of women.

The project focuses on the occupation of “Arkat Manual and CNC” and is part of the larger plan to support gender integration in employment for the year 2024. The report examines the final products of trainees who have undergone the program, providing insight into the effectiveness of the initiative.

The Ministry has released a statement on the project aimed at promoting gender integration in employment within four governorates, Sharqiyah, Ismaila Monofiyah, and Suez. The project is being supervised by the Ministry’s Central Labour Force Welfare Department in coordination with civil society organizations. The initiative is currently underway in Sharqiyah governorate, covering three cities, Zagazig, 10th of Ramadan, and Minya al-Qamh.

The target group for this one-month project is women breadwinners aged between 18 to 55 years. The project is set to offer training in various departments, including semi-automatic carpets at the vocational training centre in Zagazig, Arkat manual wooden works and CNC at the Nagm al-Khair Foundation in the 10th of Ramadan, and printing on pots and textiles in the village of Shelshelmon in the city of Minya al-Qamh.

As part of the efforts of the Directorate, a project was initiated to train and rehabilitate young girls in occupations that are currently in demand in the governorate’s labor market.

The primary objective was to implement a comprehensive plan for women’s economic empowerment, which aimed to help them secure decent jobs to improve their living standards and that of their families. This project was an essential step towards achieving gender equity and creating opportunities for women to contribute positively to the economy.
