Minister Qabbaj Announces 2nd Edition of ‘Family Entity’ Project

Minister of Social Solidarity, Nevine El-Qabbaj, announced the launch of the second phase of the national project to preserve the entity of the Egyptian family “Mawadda”, an interactive exercise inclusive of persons with disabilities.

The launch comes within the framework of partnership and cooperation between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German government.

For her part, Dr. Randa Fares, Director of the National Project for Preserving the Egyptian Family Entity Mawada, said the training aims to raise awareness of those about to get married with all the information and skills that contribute to establishing a normal and cohesive family entity; these training takes into account all means of making it possible for people with disabilities to participate. This is In addition to the participation of trainers with disabilities in the training program.

The official added that the training will take place in ten governorates: Cairo, Fayoum, Port Said, Dakahlia, Alexandria, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Aswan, and the Red Sea, in cooperation with the Social Solidarity Directorates. It is planned to target 4,000 trainees through 480 training days to maximize the benefit from the activities that are implemented in a participatory and interactive manner with the male and female participants through a group of young training cadres qualified to implement the training sessions in a skillful way that contributes to the success of these sessions, including a group of cadres distinguished persons with disabilities.

She explained that through cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation, training was developed based on the basic content of Mawada, which focuses on gender-based violence and people with disabilities. The sessions were transformed into interactive activities, as the first phase of the initiative witnessed the training of 4,000 young men and women.
