Israel’s Army Apologizes Its Tank “Accidentally” Fires and Hits Egyptian Post in South Rafah

by Marwa Mostafa

Israel’s Defence Force (IDF) announced on Twitter that an IDF tank accidentally opened fire and hit an Egyptian post adjacent to the border in the Kerem Shalom region on Sunday evening, 22 October, causing multiple deaths and injuries on the Egyptian side.

The Kerem Shalom border crossing is a border crossing at the junction of the Gaza Strip–Israel border and the Gaza–Egypt border.

“The incident is being investigated, and the details are under review,” the statement said. According to the “Egyptian Streets” website, the IDF also apologized for the incident.

Egypt’s Armed Forces released a statement shortly afterward, stating that some border watchmen suffered minor injuries after shell fragments from an Israeli tank accidentally struck one of the Egyptian border watchtowers.

In related, Egyptian Political Satirist and television host Bassem Youssef commented on the incident by a post on his Facebook page: Israel today bombed an Egyptian checkpoint inside the EGYPTIAN territory of SINAI. They claim they did it by “mistake.” Of course. The most advanced American-backed army in the region can’t aim. Do you need a little drawing of a fly to aim at? Like those you have in public urinals, you don’t have to splash yourself, hun? A MISTAKE! Huh? WINK WINK! Yes. Like bombing a church, a school, a reporter, or dare I say a FUCKING hospital? Oh, wait, that is intentional. I know you are a young country. I am almost 50 years old, and some of my pubic hair is older than most of your settlements. So why don’t you grow the fuck up! The world sees you. Look at those pictures. WE HAVE SEEN THIS MOVIE BEFORE. Oh, wait. I am talking to the wrong people. Let me speak to your parent. Hey: Mr. Fucking President of the United States of America, President Joe Biden. Your spoiled brat is making a mess while pointing to the other kids in the class. Control your fucking entitled, lying little child from hell. Oh and please #ceasefireInGazaNOW
