Foreign Ministry: Egypt sends food, medical aid to Somalia

The Egyptian Embassy in Mogadishu on Friday 30/12/2022 handed over a shipment of humanitarian aid provided by the Egyptian government to Somalia, a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Facebook said.

The 240-ton shipment, comprising food and medical supplies, was delivered with contributions from Al Azhar, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Health and Population, the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Egyptian Red Crescent, in coordination with the Foreign Ministry.

Egypt’s Ambassador in Mogadishu Mohamed El Baz, Somali Minister of Health Ali Haji Aadan and a number of the Somali government officials and representatives of the Somali Red Crescent attended the ceremony of handing over the aid shipment.

It comes within the framework of distinguished relations between the two countries and the Egyptian political leadership’s keenness to support the Somali government and people to confront the drought their country has been suffering for several years.

Somali Minister of Health Ali Haji Aadan hailed fraternal relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of the Egyptian aid that will contribute to facing the drought in his country.
