The Ministry of Social Solidarity represented the Arab Republic of Egypt at the first international conference on the care economy, which took place from June 25 to 26 in the Kingdom of Morocco. The event was held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI of Morocco with the theme “The care economy and social protection…a pillar for empowering women, creating job opportunities and achieving family well-being.”
The conference was organized by the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Inclusion, and Family in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Competencies, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, and in collaboration with the League of Arab States.
The conference, which was attended by representatives from various Arab and African countries, as well as experts from United Nations bodies and international and regional organizations, aimed to create the opportunity to mobilize collective intelligence and engage in the process of building an integrated system for the care economy through the exchange of Arab and international experiences and knowledge about this important sector.
The care economy is considered a successful product because it compensates for the unpaid work done by women, empowering and integrating them into development.
