On Saturday, December 10, 4,000 runners from 79 countries participated in the 4th edition of the Pyramids Half Marathon in the southwest of Cairo. Running competitors enjoyed the historical scenery as they followed the marathon slogan and ran through history.

Trifactory, a major management company for sports events in Egypt, organized the marathon event at the Pyramids of Giza, sponsored by the Egyptian ministers of tourism and sports under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s supervision.

“We have 4,000 racers from 79 countries running close to one another in an atmosphere of peace and friendship, which is a strong message that Egypt is a safe place that is open for all nationalities in the world,” stated the founder and CEO of TriFactory, Ayman Hakky who organized the event “Race Through History”, adding that he is eager to grow the number of participating competitors in the event to surpass 10,000 runners in the near future.

Following his win, Salem Mohamed, a 29-year-old Egyptian gold medalist, shared his opinion with Xinhua, describing this year’s marathon to be difficult due to the rough texture of the racing track. The Egyptian athlete prided Egypt’s civilization, hoping to see more international participants in the coming years.

Salem was exceedingly pleased with his victory in such a challenging tournament, who included champions from all around the world, and is looking forward to joining the next marathon.

The “Race Through History” event witnessed the participation of runners from Egypt, Lebanon, UAE, the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Japan, China, and the Republic of Korea.
