Egyptian Entries Among 61 Movies Participating in 7th Session of AWFF

Organizers of the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival revealed that 61 films are participating in various competitions and programs in this year’s edition, which takes place from March 5 to 10.

Director Maggie Morgan, the artistic advisor to the festival, said that the feature film competition includes 10 films representing 5 continents, including two films from Egypt: “The Boring Mim Tour” directed by Hind Bakr in its world premiere, and “Not Like Them” directed by Nadia Fares in its African premiere, along with 8 other films from other countries.

Morgan added that the short film competition includes 18 films, including 4 Egyptian films, three of which are in their world premiere, namely, “In the absence of the cat” directed by Marian Hanna, “A Permanent Trip” directed by Yahya Al-Helou, and “Tourists” directed by Mona Yahya, in addition to the movie “She is in Berlin”, a joint production with Germany, and directed by Sondos Shabayek, in its premiere in the Middle East, among 14 other films are participating in the short film category.

The director pointed out that the Egyptian feature film competition includes five films, including the two films participating in the international feature film competition, in addition to 3 other films, “The Workshop”, starring Nidal El Shafei, Sahar Al-Sayegh, Hamza Al-Aili, Hanan Suleiman, and directed by Muhammad Hamdi in its world premiere, and “The Hole of the Mice” directed by Muhammad Al-Samman in its world premiere, and “Complete” starring Engy Al-Muqaddam, Firas Saeed and Mai Al-Ghaiti and directed by John Ikram in its African premiere.
