Thursday, June 15, Egypt officially launched the Country Partnership Document (CPD) for the period 2023-2027 with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF).

During the launch event, Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al Mashat highlighted the significance of the partnership, emphasizing its alignment with national priorities, particularly in the files of gender equality and youth development.

The partnership aims to provide family planning services, empower women and girls, combat gender-based violence, and contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5: Gender Equality.

It also aims to promote investment in human capital, achieve comprehensive economic development, enhance governance and transparency, and empower women and girls.

The minister stressed that this partnership further supports the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family, which aims to improve citizens’ livelihoods.

Al Mashat praised the role of the UNFPA in supporting Egypt’s population strategy and its collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population, the European Union, civil society organizations, and other relevant entities.

She also commended the joint efforts made during the previous CPD period (2018-2022) in advancing positive change and supporting national policies, development plans, and initiatives related to family planning, maternal health, and youth capacity development in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Moreover, the minister highlighted the UNFPA’s contributions to developing capabilities, raising awareness among women, and supporting the Egyptian National Strategy for Youth and Adolescents 2021-2026 in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other relevant ministries.

Al Mashat emphasized that the CPD with the UNFPA plays a vital role in supporting national priorities and the common vision for development.

The minister added that this comprehensive approach mobilizes development cooperation efforts and integrates them within national priorities, working towards a sustainable and prosperous future.
