The wildfires first erupted on the island of Rhodes on 18 July due to a record-breaking heatwave. Firefighters have been battling the raging fires in a race against time.

Egyptian Armed Forces spokesperson Gharib Abdel Hafez stated on his official Facebook page that the helicopters are equipped with state-of-the-art tools and equipment that can provide much-needed aid to the Greek authorities, according to the “Egyptian Streets” website.

So far, thousands of tourists and citizens have evacuated their homes and hotels. The damage has reached a handful of hotels, but according to the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection in Greece, no injuries have been reported.
