The General Egyptian Authority for Tourism Promotion, representing the Egyptian Tourism ministry, has taken part in the International Tourism Exchange (ITB Berlin), held on 7-9 March 2023 in Berlin.
The ITB Berlin (Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin) is the world’s largest and most influential tourism trade fair. The companies represented at the fair include hotels, tourist boards, tour operators, system providers, airlines and car rental companies.
ITB Berlin is the leading business platform for worldwide tourism offerings. With its unique diversity, ITB Berlin covers the entire value-added chain of touristic offers. Guidance is delivered by the geographic organizations of more than 180 participating countries and regions.
The ITB is held every year and is considered the largest and largest international tourism gathering with over 10,000 exhibitors representing more than 180 countries. It receives more than 170,000 visitors, of which 110,000 professionals, as well as 1,000 major investors in the tourism sector, in addition to the media presence from 70 countries and 400 bloggers from 30 countries.
It is the first time that the ITB Berlin has been held in person since the Covid-19, as it has been held virtually since this crisis. Egypt has participated in the ITB annually since 1971.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities recently hosted a press delegation from Germany on an introductory visit to the Egyptian tourist destination, as Germany ranks on top of the list of countries with the largest number of tourists traveling to Egypt in 2022.
This visit included a number of tourist and archaeological sites in the cities of Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab, St. Catherine, Luxor, Alexandria and Cairo, as part of the ministry’s efforts to promote the Egyptian tourist destination.
