Christina Karam Uses Music to Promote Egyptian Cities Through “Egypt Deserves” Campaign

Egyptian singer Christina Karam uses her “Egypt Deserves” initiative to promote the country through songs in Arabic, Spanish, English, and ancient Egyptian as well.

During an interview with Arab News, the acclaimed singer and tourism expert shared: I use singing as a way to express the greatness of Egyptian monuments and antiquities; I sing in these languages, and I wish I could sing in more to reach more people.

She added: Egypt deserves the best, including the promotion of its archaeological and tourist attractions. Its antiquities are worth seeing. My goal is to sing and describe every area in Umm Al-Dunya.

Karam used that specific term, referencing an Arabic phrase meaning “mother of the world used to describe Egypt’s 7000 years of civilization and history.

Regarding her initiative, the singer confirmed that tourism officials have hugely supported her mission to promote the Egyptian state and offered her the necessary assistance to produce her songs properly.

Currently, Karam works as a specialist for the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in the Red Sea region. Before that, she briefly worked in academia and was later appointed to an institution concerned with tourism, which qualified her to be part of the promotion system for tourism in my country.

Recently, the singer released a song named “Sweet and Authentic”, which focuses on Aswan’s landmarks, including the Philae Temple, the Nile Museum, and Abu Simbel.

The Song’s lyrics, written by Nasr Awad say: Sweet and beautiful…Oh, people of Aswan. My beautiful country is everywhere…Southern sugar and Nubian art. Michael Ayad composed the music, Kero distributed it, and Ahmed Salama directed the clip.

It is worth mentioning that Karam also released a song about Hurghada, her current place of living, besides her famed Song of Isis, which gained worldwide recognition after the infamous ceremony held in April 2021 when the mummies of 18 ancient Egyptian kings and four queens were transported from the Egypt Museum in Tahrir Square along the Nile to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, south of the capital.

The renowned artist uses her academic background in tourism to gain more knowledge on history and antiquities by performing many concerts, the latest of which took place in the Roman Theater in Alexandria. Karam aspires to sing about all Egyptian cities in various languages.
